La grande histoire d’hier était un essai de validation de refroidissement des moteurs. Pour ce que j’ai pu en comprendre, l’eau du chenal du port de Cayenne est trop turbide pour servir de refroidissement aux moteurs. L’essai consistait donc à refroidir les moteurs avec l’eau des ballasts. Essai apparemment réussi si j’en juge aux sourires de l’équipage.

The story of yesterday was a validation test of the cooling of the engines. As far as I could understand, the water of the channel to the harbour of Cayenne is too turbid to be used as an engine coolant. The test was therefore to cool the engines with the ballast water. Successful test if I read the smiles of the crew correctly.
